180 works of art from the collections of the Museo d’Arte Mendrisio, ranging from the 16th to the 21st century, are on display in the recently restored exhibition space of the historic complex of San Giovanni. The works include those of historic importance by local artists, but also classic works of modern art. The collection has grown gradually over the years and now comprises over 2,500 works, recently enhanced by a large number of acquisitions.

In the 28 years since it was established in 1982 - the date of the first major acquisition (the Grigioni donation) – the Museo d’arte Mendrisio has endeavoured, and succeeded, in bringing together an art collection of great significance in the region.
